Hard To Swallow Truth Most People Will Wish They Never Knew

Chances are you’ve heard me say “the truth will set you free but upset you at first”. From my experience that’s definitely the case.

Like when I tell somebody that their “baby is ugly”, their business is a dog, it often doesn’t go down that well.

It’s little wonder after all what parent likes to think their “baby is ugly”?

Sadly, it’s the same with business owners. They get “hard up” emotionally where their business is concerned.

And “when emotion goes up, intelligence goes down”.

Heck, even some of my best clients, I aggravated the daylights out of when we first met.

Of course, we laugh about it today but it wasn’t funny at the time.

Usually, the level of pain someone is in, is the thing that makes them change. Generally speaking, there is nothing I can do to make them change, other than play fair and give them my best stuff.

All this in the hope that they are the RIGHT person at the RIGHT time with the RIGHT information. All this leads me to the point of this blog. What I’m going to reveal here will be enormously hard for some people to swallow.

Here it goes anyway…

Most business owners don’t have a business at all. They have a garage sale.

By that I mean their continually chasing their tail depending on the next sale.

They certainly don’t have a predictable, reliable and profitable marketing, sales and conversion system they can depend on come hell or high water.

Mostly, they are transactional and quickly in need of the next deal. Rarely, do I find a business that’s deliberately built with the BACKEND range of products to sell to people after they buy the first time.

It’s called having a FRONTEND and a BACKEND to your business. Rarely does a business owner built the BACKEND first or at the same time as the FRONTEND of their business.

Let me explain, the FRONTEND is how you make the first sale to a prospect. The BACKEND is sales you make after the first sale.

The thing that drives all of this is mathematics $$$

Have a Business Until you can Buy Business Profitably

You see most business owners make a sale to make a profit when what they should be doing is making a sale to get a client for the lifetime value of a client. It’s commonly called the LIFETIME VALUE of a CLIENT (LVC) and I’m sure you can find a calculator online that will help you with that.

That’s all a bit 101 for me but you should know it and understand it. For most, it’s a “game changer”.

You must be able to take all the leads and traffic that your marketing brings in through a process that makes them more valuable to you than they are to your competitor.

Please read that sentence again and make sure you get it.

It’s called OPTIMIZATION through a process.

OPTIMIZATION through a process allows the business owner who figures out how to “pay the most” for a lead TO DOMINATE.

You see people think if they get more leads they’ll make more money and that is true to a certain extent. The reality is lack of leads is a symptom of the real problem which is…

Lack of a Reliable Predictable Profitable Conversion System

Stay with me here. There is a BIG PICTURE to all of this.

The BIG PICTURE is how to create a SCALABLE BUSINESS.

A business you can Grow, Sell for a Fortune, Franchise and License without working in it or wondering where the next dollar is coming from.

And the ONLY WAY you can build a SCALABLE, CONTROLLABLE, SUSTAINABLE, PREDICTABLE Business is to be able to PAY TO GET A CLIENT, not get them for free.

Oh no! I can hear you saying, you just want to do it on the cheap. Well, you’ve got a garage sale! If that’s what you want, go knock yourself out!

But you will be chasing your tail for the rest of your life in business. You certainly won’t be able to create real, sustainable wealth and independence.

Take Google for example, they control about 80% of searches online and Google is worth about 200 billion dollars. Trust me you are playing in their sand pit and they make the rules.

Because of that, you don’t want to JUST RELY on Search Engine Optimization, SEO. You want more than that. Just in case Google changes the rules on you, and they will.

So the first thing you want to do is find out what Google likes in a website in lead generation, what their rules are and then abide by them. After all, you don’t want to get whacked by that gorilla.

I’m going to do my level best to prove my case here about the…

Ask yourself this question,.. Why did Google pay 1.65 billion dollars for Youtube and then offer GROUPON 5. 75 billion dollars.

The answer is, they’re prepared to pay more because they were getting a list of buyers, people who had actually spent money NOT non-spenders.

There you go.

Surely if it’s okay for Google, it’s got to be okay for you and me.

  2. Well I read your blog article and I know it to be true. I’ve been a one person business owner for about ten years and have juggled active contract work with the online “financial freedom” engine for a very long time. I Am yet to give up my day job. It has drifted a little toward part time and time freedom but there is still a way to go. I hope your next Business School will let loose the hounds of success.
