My $63,000 SMS Template and Why Business Owners Should be Very Afraid

I ride my push bike to work every day.
I do it to stay fit and alive.
Unfortunately, drivers often try to wipe me out, not deliberately, but the consequences are grave.
This morning, as a car pulled out blindly from a vehicle dealership looking down the road and didn’t see me right in front of them.
The only thing that saved me was my lungs… I hollowed out.
Now there is a commonality to all of this…
I am riding a bike.
On a main road.
With right of way.
There is a stop sign or a give way sign or I have right of way.
Drivers entering that road either via other roads or driveways, don’t see me right in front of them.
In fact, in front of their nose as they approach the corner looking to their right not wanting to stop.
I actually got cleaned up recently.
The lass that hit me was apologetic and horrified…
The damage was done to me and the bike, but nothing that couldn’t be repaired
At least 4-6 times a month, I nearly get wiped out as drivers literally fall asleep at the wheel of their car.
The bad news is, business owners are asleep at the wheel of their business as well and it is going to have disastrous consequences also…
You see, they are slowly being boiled in a pot like a crab and they don’t even know it.
In fact, they are in a coma.
Read on to discover why if you are in business should you be worried…
I used to say small business owners had advantage over the big dumb companies.
Why? Because they could micro-manage, not macro-manage.
Micro-manage meaning big businesses are the Titanic and you are a nimble speedboat able to respond quickly to market changes and opportunity.
My partner Glen Michaelides called into McDonald’s recently for a coffee and they said words to the effect…
“How would you like to win coffee for a year?”.
Well why wouldn’t you?
Glen obliged, filled in his details.
This is something I have never known McDonald’s to do, none of the big companies for that matter…
And even when they got your details by default in the undertaking of the transaction, they still do nothing with them.
Now that’s criminal.
Well guess what…
Glen has been getting offers on his mobile phone and those offers are timed just an hour or two just before lunch or dinner.
And the offers are pretty good and attractive!

Here is what Glen got from McDonald’s.
“Got big plans this week? How about taking a little
time to yourself and ordering up a regular Sundae
for just a dollar. Exclusively on the mymacca’s®
Mobile Ordering app.
Deal available in app only. 6 April – 12 April 2018.
Offer redeemable once per customer”.
This tells you that the big guys are waking up and good on them!
It took them long enough!
I bet it is working brilliantly for them.
It gets worse…
When Glen went to BP recently, he was asked if he wanted to join a competition for $10,000.
You guessed it, they are up to the same tricks as McDonald’s.
Which is very smart, give credit where credit is due.
But be very afraid… you might think McDonald’s and BP aren’t your competitors…
But they are!
You see, people’s disposable income has gone down dramatically as essential services cost more and more.
Hence, they have less to spend and can only spend it once.
So, in reality, every dollar they spend with anybody is a dollar they can’t spend with you so everyone is your competitor including McDonald’s and BP.
Regardless whether you sell hamburgers, petrol or not.
At the very least, you need to do SMS’s like they do seeing as they have caught on to all of this.
Like an SMS I wrote for a client of mine which turned over approximately $63,000 in 30 days.
But she now sends SMS’s regularly to her SMS list with just a change to her offer.
Here is that SMS here:
[your business name or your name] 3 Day Once a Year 15% off all [your product or service] Easter Special! Visit or Phone to order [phone number] Buy NOW and Save! Send STOP to optout
Here is how it happened…
She rang me and said “I need to make some sales”.
I said “what have you got?”.
Turns out she had a list of past and present clients and we had their mobile numbers.
She had never used SMS’s before…
Within a day, the SMS was done and sent.
I think it cost just a few hundred dollars to send, profit was massive.
Well guess what… Once you get a marketing piece like an SMS working, keep sending it out in a timely manner.
There are a few things you have to understand here…
For a start, you should try and keep your SMS to under 160 characters (including spaces) because that is the maximum number of characters a standard text message allows.
You can go over that number, but you will pay more money to do so, the rate of 2 standard messages.
Something else you need to understand and this is good news, there is very few industries that couldn’t benefit from using mobile marketing, here are some more statistics that prove that.
Here is the response rate to various industries within the first 15 minutes of them being sent.
• Retail: 32%
• Betting & Trading: 33%
• Entertainment: 37%
• Travel & Transportation: 54%
• Finance & Banking: 57%
And that research was based on over 1 Billion SMS’s being sent in various countries.
To finish off, here are some interesting stats you might find useful.
Of all the small businesses that fail 90% do so because of a LACK OF SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE on the part of the owner.
In 70% of small business failures a key factor was the OWNER not recognizing or ignoring WEAKNESSES and then not seeking help.
So it’s time to get cracking and make sure you don’t become a statistic like the statistics above…
And a great way to do that is using SMS’s the way I have described them here.
