Training Never Stops For The Pro

Training Never Stops For The Pro

Over my many years of expensive experience, I have observed some fundamental differences between successful people and less successful people. In no particular order, successful people are experts at something, if we are talking about business, the obvious one is to be successful at marketing.

Because without being a good marketer today, in the chaotic new economy, you will struggle to survive or thrive. Add to that, the fact that in the last 15 – 20 years or so, the cost of getting a client has tripled and your results from them has halved.

Bottom line, the old ways of doing business don’t work like they used to and never will again.

One of the fundamental differences between struggling businesses and those that don’t is…

They Have Mastered Marketing

By the way, masters of anything are rarely born, certainly not in my own case, I’m a master of marketing today because I, firstly, recognised that marketing is where the money is and secondly, I practised myself out of incompetence.

The good news is, all masters were once disasters. So figure out what you need to master and then commit the time, money and energy to become a master of it.

Back to the rant, another fundamental difference is successful people complete what they start and are not attracted to the next shiny object.

You know, most people want there to be a straight line to success, unfortunately a straight line to success doesn’t exist. All success comes from testing and adjusting, testing and adjusting, it’s a never ending process.

It’s just that successful people test small then adjust and then when they find something that works, they run with it… they complete.

Unsuccessful people don’t complete and then blame everybody and everything but themselves for the result they got.

Another fundamental difference between success and failure is successful people never stop “training”, never stop training and learning.

Over the Christmas break, I was “in training” physically, mentally and emotionally. Why? Because I want to be the best I can be.

Firstly, I took myself off to a detoxification clinic overseas. I generally do this, or something similar, twice a year. I usually go for 2-4 weeks.

I am also known to go to India to do Ayurveda which I believe is the oldest alterative health medicine on the planet.

After 3 weeks of Ayurveda treatments, yoga, detoxification and organic vegetarian food, I’m dead set dangerous both mentally and physically.

You see, I believe prevention is far better than the cure, I recognise how flawed I am in most other parts of my life, particularly when I am on the road travelling from city to city, seminar to seminar.

I find it really hard to get into a rhythm, my routines thrown out, so I know to continue to perform at my peak, I need to take myself away, isolate myself and “clean” myself up. Twice a year works for me.

There is an added bonus to all of this, after 2 or 3 weeks of Ayurveda, you look about 10 years younger… boy my wife Ying is lucky!

I also took time out to study, to learnt the latest, newest ways to stay ahead of the pack, after all, that’s what my clients pay me for, that’s why I get paid the big bucks.

As I said, training is never out for the pro and it never will be.

All the Best,
Mal Emery

  2. Hello Mal Emery, how are you going? 🙂 It’s so true what you said! Most businesses these days are still stocking up on horse feed and doing things the old fashioned way. They are burying their heads in the sand
